In more grueling applications, like a grease trap, where solids are getting trapped in the demister pad, you must schedule regular maintenance to ensure that your demister pad is clean and works efficiently. In less strenuous applications, like an air scrubber, where the demister pad is being used to remove water droplets and small particles from the air, scheduled maintenance should be less frequent.

The cleaning method, much like the frequency of your maintenance, will largely depend on your application. In less stringent applications where solids are not plugging your demister pad, using a cleaning liquid or boiling it may be enough to clean it properly. Heavier cleaning methods may be required in more stringent applications where solids are plugging your demister pad. If you are experiencing frequent plugging with your demister pad, despite routine cleaning and maintenance, a more economical decision could be to replace your demister pad more often. Replacing your demister pad also helps ensure your pad maintains the correct shape, size, pressure drop, and performance needed for your application.
