Power Brush Wire Makes Quick Work of Surface Finishing

Apr 12, 2021 01:53 PM

Power brush wire is a heavy-duty wire product that can withstand tremendous amounts of wear and tear in the field. It has a high fatigue life, which means it is able to survive the rigors of everyday use without breaking down as quickly as other types of brush wire. Available in a variety of materials and lengths, Loos Jewel Wire Division has the power brush wire to meet your needs.

Unlike scratch brush wire, which is used in hand brushes with wooden or metal handles, power brush wire is formed into circular wheels for use on angle grinders, drills, and other types of power tools. These brushes can be used for a variety of applications ranging from paint removal to rust cleaning. Often found in industrial and manufacturing settings, these brushes swiftly and effortlessly remove burrs, sharp edges, and debris from equipment and other metal surfaces. Removing these sharp metal slivers not only greatly increases safety, but it also helps ensure appropriate working conditions.

Loos offers brush wire in brass, stainless steel, nickel, carbon steel, and phosphor bronze. It is best practice to use stainless steel bristles on a stainless steel surface, because other types of bristles can scratch and pit the surface, leaving it susceptible to corrosion and rust spots. Though it is not always necessary to match the material of the brush to the material of the surface, stainless steel is a special exception. To accommodate this, Loos manufactures brush wire in nearly any variety of stainless steel, including 302, 304, 316, and Inconel.

In general, brass wire bristles are softer than other types of materials, meaning they are ideal for use on more sensitive surfaces. Unlike plain carbon steel bristles, which can scratch a delicate surface, brass bristles effectively remove grime without marring or scraping the surface. Our 260 alloy brass brush wire is comprised of 70% copper and 30% zinc for ideal corrosion resistance.

Loos Jewel Wire Division offers power brush wire in a variety of sizes to meet all surface condition needs. We can also package your brush wire in cut lengths, in hanks, or on spools to meet your different needs.
