Here at LPP, we recently updated our website with a capabilities guide to reflect our newest type of additive manufacturing, 3D printing. Our 3D printing services allow us to create complex parts quickly and efficiently with thermoplastics. This new capabilities guide offers a comprehensive look at our materials and process. Here are a few of the main features of our additive manufacturing capabilities guide.

List of Common Materials and Properties:

Our guide highlights the numerous materials we use for 3D printing. The most common materials we use are Polyactic Acid (PLA), Carbon fiber reinforced Polylactic Acid (PLA), NylonX, and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETG). Each of these materials have different temperature ranges, capabilities, chemical & impact resistances.

Insight into the 3D Printing Process:

In our guide, you will find information that specifically outlines how the 3D printing process works. We breakdown the process into four steps. Initially, when you need a new part, the idea goes to the Loos engineering team with a drawing or sketch. After the features, materials, and sizes are determined, Loos engineering will draft a digital CAD model and software will determine how long and the amount of material needed to print the component. Once these steps are finalized, the part is ready for printing.

Overview of Considerations Before Printing:

Alongside some product examples, the final section of our capabilities guide has some considerations to think about before printing. A few of these considerations are that some designs may require testing and prototyping to ensure the part has the right strength and functionality for your needs and that the current cost and availability of a part is always changing which determines the value of 3D printing designs.
