How Do I Use a LOCOLOC® #0-SC Hand Swager

When it comes to swaging, it is crucial to make proper connections in order to get the highest performance out of your assemblies. Swaging Instructions:

The first step is to place the sleeve you are looking to compress in the groove of the swaging tool. Single cavity tools should match cable size to be swaged. The length of cable equal to the cable diameter should extend beyond the length of the sleeve to achieve maximum holding.

It is crucial you keep the jaws of your swaging tool at right angles to the sleeve to be compressed, and ensure the sleeve is aligned in the jaw grooves. You must close the tool completely and the tool handles should snap shut to indicate complete closure.

The finished sleeve should look like the image below. It is crucial to use the swaging gauge provided with the tool to check the diameter of the after swage. A compress sleeve should easily slice into the size slot of gauge.

If your swage does not slide into the gauge, you will have to adjust your swager. To adjust your swager, use a 3/16” Allen wrench with the handles apart to tighten the set screw in handle with a ¼ turn. Then compress the sleeve again and check the gauge size. If the problem persists, keep doing ¼ turns until the sleeve passes in the gauge. It is important to take it ¼ at a time as over adjustment will cause the bolt to break. Below is a table with the number of compressions you will need to complete a swage.
