New to the Loos Hot Wire is our “The Differences Between" series: a new blog program that picks three related products and highlights the varying capabilities of each. Today we are focusing on LOLON® A, B, & E. Continue reading to find out the particular performance characteristics for each of these plastic-coating materials.

LOLON® A:

LOLON® A’s main features are its flexibility, fatigue resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance. The flexibility of LOLON® A is most often compared to vinyl for its flexibility as both materials are reasonably flexible. However, when fatigue and abrasion resistance is needed, LOLON® A is far superior to vinyl. LOLON® A is designed to perform in temperatures between +40 degrees F to +200 degrees F and comes in a transparent color with a slight green tint. LOLON® A can meet MIL-P-22096, Type III, and MIL-W-29020 military specifications. When flexibility and toughness are concerns, LOLON® A is the perfect plastic coating choice.

LOLON® B:

If flexibility is not a primary concern for your mechanical cables, LOLON® B might be the coating to use. While LOLON® A has good abrasion and fatigue resistance, LOLON® B offers superior resistance. Some other features of LOLON® B include its good chemical resistance and its ability to operate in a temperature range between -40 degrees F to +200 degrees F. LOLON® B is light tan in color, with slight transparency.

LOLON® E:

LOLON® E is the ideal plastic coating when your cable needs to have a high resistance to impact. While this toughness makes LOLON® E less flexible than LOLON® B, it is an excellent choice when you require a very tough plastic with good abrasion resistance. LOLON® E operates in a temperature range between -40 degrees F to +200 degrees F. The LOLON® E coating has good chemical resistance and is transparent in color. LOLON® E will meet Military Specification Mil-P-220, Type IV.
