Our stainless steel MIL-W-83140, 19X7, non-rotating wire rope, sizes ¼”, 3/8”, 3/16”, ½” is used in  High Mast Lighting poles to assist with large outdoor area lighting applications such as stadiums, prisons and parking lots and provide safety and functionality for roadways and other commercial projects.

A High Mast Lighting system is one in which light bulbs are mounted on a ring shaped platform of a diameter such that it surrounds the mast. The ring platform is then raised and locked into a lighting position at the top of the mast by operation of cables extending to the base of the mast.

What makes this style of lighting so unique and valuable is the independence of the locking and raising/lowering mechanism. Once elevated, locking pawls support the lighting ring at the top of the mast without assistance from lift cables. This independence extends the service life of the entire system. The locking pawls can then be disengaged from their supporting position by operating the lift cables from the base. The cable then lowers the mast to permit  for routine maintenance activities, such as a change of bulbs, without the use of large crews and heavy equipment.

This ease of operation and long life allows for low maintenance costs and greater lighting value over other lighting methods. All made possible by Loos & Co., Inc. stainless steel MIL-W-83140, 19X7, non-rotating wire rope.
