Loos and Company Technical Information

At Loos and Company, we are proud to have an extensive content library with technical information for a wide variety of topics. In today’s blog we will be breaking down the numerous sections of our technical information page. We will highlight topics such as standard-length tolerances, pulley dimeter, wire rope stretch, and many more!

Standard Length Tolerances:

The tolerances section of our page highlights the tolerances for cable assemblies and cut length cable. Our chart showcases tolerances in inches and can be found here.

Pulley Diameter:

Our pulley diameter guide shows the suitable sizes of pulleys for cables. Typically, the largest possible pulley sizes are the best for cable longevity. Our table has both a desirable minimum and critical minimum.

Wire Rope Stretch:

The wire rope stretch section of our page details structural and elastic stretch. This section of our page also has a cable stretch calculator. Stretch is always a concern in cable and wire rope applications, so it is important to factor in stretch when purchasing cable and wire rope products.

MIL-83420 Reference:

On our MIL-83240 reference table we list all of our government designations and display which diameter, construction, and Loos part # the code is referencing.

Jacket Tolerances:

Our tolerances chart outlines standard tolerances for jacketing a range of aircraft cables and wire ropes. We highlight the inner cable diameter, coated to outside diameter, and standard tolerance of outside diameter in inches.

Standard Points of Measure:

This section of our webpage shows the main points of measure in cable assemblies. We focus on the bearing point, center, and end of terminal.

Recommended Bend Radius:

To make your wire rope last longer, you need to have the right diameter rope for your application. Our bend radius guide has multiple informative tables you can check out here.
