Here are the main questions we receive and our responses to them:

Q.1: Does it matter what color fitness cable I use in machine equipment?

A: We choose to use a black color of fitness cable as it is the industry standard and often blends in well with equipment. However, custom colors are also suitable when you feel that black is not aesthetically appropriate. It is important to note that for exercise resistance bands, colors often signify the level of strength in the bands or the muscles that should be used for the workout. But with the cable being used in fitness machines such as rowing bikes, lateral pull, and weightlifting equipment, the industry has no colours for certain strengths and weight capabilities.

Q.2: Why do my fitness cables consistently need replacing?

A: The most obvious answer is that your fitness cables are cheaply made and do not have high-strength properties. Having weak cables will lead to permanent cable damage and potential snapping or cable fray. These issues are severe when it comes to fitness equipment, as safety is always the number one priority when interacting with exercise machines. Another answer to why your cables may need replacing is related to the next question on our list about pulley size.

Q.3: Can I use any pulley size with my fitness cables?

A: We do not recommend using any pulley size for your fitness cables. Significant damage can be caused to your pulley system or cable if using improper sizing. A general rule of thumb is that larger pulley sizes are best for cable life. However, we understand using large pulleys is not always an option when working with tightly built fitness equipment. We recommend checking out our pulley diameter guide located in our Fitness Cable catalog to find out the ideal pulley sizes for certain sizes of cable.

Q.4: Should I buy a fitness cable that is jacketed? What material?

A: Jacketed fitness cable is ideal when users will be directly touching the cable as it will be more comfortable for the hands, causes less friction, and is less slippery. Sometimes uncoated cable is suitable in fitness equipment, but this is more prone to corrosion from water, sweat, etc. For the most part, it is better for the longevity of the cable and user experience to buy jacketed cable.

Q.5: Does it really make a difference to use a higher quality fitness cable in my equipment?

A: To prevent damage, injury, and constant replacements, we cannot recommend enough that having a high-quality fitness cable is worth it. The initial cost may be more than the cheap alternatives, but with the reduction in replacements and equipment downtime due to broken cables, buying well-built cables is the best option!

Hopefully, our insight into these techical questions will make the buying process of fitness cable much easier in the future.
