This month's issue of Wire Rope News and Sling Technology features our very own Mike Wallace lending his knowledge of aircraft cable to an article entitled : "Untwisting the Largely Unknown History of Aircraft Cable"
The author, Peter Hildebrandt, presents a brief history of the materials used in aircraft flight controls. He then traces the transition from the solid wire used by the Wright Brother in their early crafts to the highly specialized Military Specification Aircraft Cables produced by Loos & Company and used by all major aircraft manufacturers today.
Take a few moments to read the article starting on page 14. You'll be pleasantly surprised how the industry has evolved.
