A Bit of Wire Rope History from History

Here at the HotWire, we often spend time combing through the internet to see what type of wire rope and aircraft cable “stuff” we can find out there. Mostly junk, as I’m sure you’re aware. However, occasionally we come across a thing or two worth sharing. Today we have just such a gem to pass along to all you wire rope junkies out there.

describe the imageCaltech (California Institute of Technology) library has a service that posts old copies of their Engineering and Sciences Monthly Magazine. The particular edition we found (October 1946) has a brief history of wire rope. Take a minute to look it over. If you’re anything like us nerds here at LoosCo.com, you’ll love it!

If you have any wire rope, aircraft cable, or related questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. And if you stumble across any articles like the one above, let us know and we’ll post them for others to read.
